Actually, it should be merry winter solstice, since the date of a pagan holiday was picked for Christmas, and Christ's actual birth is believed to have been at a much different time. Much to the ironic chargrin of the people who bitch about PCness, Happy Holidays would have also sufficed for Hanukkah, which I'm sure there are Jews on Rockpage.
