Damn. I could swear about two days ago the local news said he showed a great improvement. My parents really liked him. They had dinner with him a long time ago.

R.I.P. Mr. Murtha - I didn't agree with his politics at all but I wish him a lovely resting place full of peace.

My wife and I met him, I Had discussions with him, John Hugya and other staffers. He was an honorable man true to his conictions. RIP

So you disagree with his pro life stance and his regular votes that were pro military and for benefits for veterans ?

Likely you only knew he was a Democrat. And nothing beyond that. Other than Fox trashing.

I'm not saying he was always on the up and up. Just that there is more to know about him.

Bill, frickin' stop it. This isn't a political thread. A man died, and people are paying their respects. Quit trolling. Seriously, man, damn.

Yes, like calling some Marines murderers before he even read the report of what happened in Iraq.

Like making just about everyone in his family a millionaire by giving them millions and billions in government contracts. All under investigation now.

By basing his whole political persona as being an ex marine and decorated hero, but never releasing his military record.

Kevin, they disagreed with his politics and you don't recognise that as political ? I stood up for something good that he stands for that they don't know about. If that is too political, too bad. But in his memory, they should know his redeeming qualities.

I never said he was all good, only that all of his politics were not bad. I did not attempt to trash a dead man Joe. Now, that is just wrong.

Nice try Joe, in reality, you couldn't stand it that Murtha had any redeeming quality. Instead of bashing a dead man and then making an excuse when you're called on said bashing, PM your rebuttal.

Jesus Christ, people are allowed to disagree. But this was not a political thread until you and Joe started the same fucking bullshit you always do. The man died. That was the subject, not who got kickbacks or who's record was released or who supported abortion or any of that shit.

No wonder I don't really come to Rockpage any more. You and Joe have hijacked this whole forum into one gigantic political bullshit thread. If both of you put half the effort into actually trying to make a change rather than just fucking whining about it and insulting each other, we'd all be better off. I'm done with the General Discussion forum, and I'm about done with Rockpage. Fuck this.

When I reread my post I see it was very antagonistic. I sincerely apologize to everyone I offended.

The spirit in which I delivered my message was in poor taste and it overshadowed my points.

He did many good things for the military and many good things for veterans. He was also pro life. I thought you (plural) should know this.

And yes, may he rest in peace.

We should let this thread rest in peace. Anyone know a good Irish blessing to give to Big John Murtha?

Respects to Mr. Murtha who always called 'em like he saw 'em.

No matter where he might be right now, he's probably giving somebody hell.
