My first 5K is April 17th! I've been running since Feb. 1st. Remember, I have not ran in many many years. I'm an out-of-shape 45 year old. I'm doing it in hopes that I can raise funds and awareness for Kidney Cancer. It is hereditary in my family. Kidney cancer in itself is rare. The hereditary form is even more rare and one of the most aggressive forms of cancer known. At this point, there is no known cure for this form. Only treatments that will lengthen the amount of life with some sort of quality. The side effects of the current treatment options are bad for most. And everyone that I've ever known has come to a point when they stop working. We need more research done so that those affected can have the same prognosis as other diseases.
