Sampling and backtracking
Sampling and backtracking
Do you guys/girls have a problem whenever bands use samples and backtracks live to enhance their show? I have a big problem with it, last band I saw was RED and every damn song had a sample. I also hate when bands have harmonies sampled as well. Kind of pathetic.
Some songs which use an intro track... Not at all a bad thing. Many bands do it nowadays, and in some cases, it adds a little to the effect. However, the sample shouldn't be any part of the actual played music, unless there's a solid reason for it, not as part of a laze to the act
I used to like when Second Offense did it, and still like it when Ninetail does it. I know Samara does it too. But none of them really utilize it for a music tool... More just to introduce the song. So it's all cool

When its every song that has an intro from a movie, it gets annoying. not to mention, its illegal to use things from movies without permission. how many people do you think get permission?? 1 out of 10? I wouldnt wanna risk my band or album just to have some guy talking before every song. Make your own intros!
As far a backtracks to simulate a live performance....thats horrible. If you cant do it live...then DONT DO IT AT ALL. I put that up there with people using auto-tune for vocals.

no problem with it!
Really, did anyone expect Pink Floyd to carry a live boys choir with them on tour?
And when an effect is an integral part of the song, why shouldn't they sample it, especially if it's the only way to simulate it live?
Paul Shaffer admitted in Keyboard magazine recently that most of the bands have backing tracks on the DL show.
