Music Trivia - My Turn - (Tough one)

Post by moxham123 »

Back in the days before song sampling and everybody suing each other over song plagerism, many songs used the same riffs, chord patterns, etc. The songs sounded extremely similar on purpose to capitalize on a hit song and songwriters admittedly stole, borrowed, or used what somebody else wrote to create a new song.

"Gimme Some Lovin'" is a huge hit song written by Steve Winwood, Spencer Davis, and Muff Winwood, and originally performed by the Spencer Davis Group. The basic riff of the song was admittedly "borrowed" from another song they all admired. What was that song and who did it?

I don't knbow where they took it from but 2 examples of people also "borrowing" the lick from them was "Sally Had A Party". Can't remrember the one hit wonder band name.
This one not only imitates the octace bass rift but also the Hamond organ rift.

Another one . "Getting Together" by Tommy James and the Shondels. Just the octave bass rift.

And speaking of samples/borrowing tunes...

Can anyone guess what song(s) Warren G & Nate Dog(g) sampled in the rap song "Regulate" ?
