A song you wish you had written?

Post by f.sciarrillo »

I been here listening to 70's music for the biggest part of the day and there are a lot of them that I wish I would have written. So my curiosity is this; If there is one song that you wish you would have written, which one would it be?

Mine would probably be "Hotel California". Then there a hundred of other ones ..

There are quite a few songs I wish I would have written but here are some for completely different reasons.

For musicality reasons
Song For America and Carry On My Wayward Son - both by Kansas

For the millions of dollars these songs make from use in movies, TV and radio commmercials, etc.

What I Like About You by The Romantics
Happy Together by The Turtles

This is a no-brainer for me. It's not about mainstream popularity, revenues or the like. It is strictly a song that moves me inside each and every time I hear it.

That is my point as well. It isn't popularity about it. It is in how much I like the song ..

Taps.
How many songs can move someone so quickly and profoundly? When you hear Taps, you automatically reflect quietly and reverently on your life, or someone else's sacrifice, and loss. I know it's a buzzkill, but songs are meant to affect you emotionally, and that song does it in spades, without a single lyric. Amazing Grace does, too.--->JMS

Time stand still

Time Stand Still --- RUSH --- makes me think of how short life is and when I begin to take things for granted I listen and realize every moment is a gift...
I'm glad I didn't have to fight in a war, I'm glad I didn't get killed or kill somebody, I hope my kids enjoy the same lack of manhood

Head Like A Hole without a doubt.
You can put kittens in the oven, but that don't make 'em biscuits.
