Who is the only act to ever have BOTH a number one pop hit with an instrumental hit AND a vocal hit ?

Alpert and the Tijuana Brass won six Grammy awards. Fifteen of their albums won gold discs, and fourteen won platinum discs on the way to selling over 75 million records worldwide. In 1966, over 13 million Alpert recordings were sold. That same year, the Guinness Book of World Records recognized that Alpert set a new record by placing five albums simultaneously on the Billboard Pop Album Chart, an accomplishment that has never been repeated. In April of that year, four of those albums were in the Top 10 simultaneously.

for hat it's worth there was a song called a theme from a summer place that was an instrumental hit and then a vocal hit for a group called the lettermen. the instrumental was either by percy faith or leonard Brerstein. This is totally off the top of my head I could google it and i'd bet the years were like 60 61 or close . good question and I think there may actually be a couple more

Either Percy Faith or Leonard Bernstein was the artist who performed the instrumental. This is totally off the top of my head. I could Google it, and I'd bet that the years were approximately '60, '61, or close.
