How did YOUR band get its name?

The story of our band name...

Mystery Train is an old Junior Parker song from the 1930’s.

Although many artists have covered this particular song it was the Jerry Garcia Band versions that blew me away the most. As a dedication to Jerry, the Grateful Dead and our scene, the name of our band was born.

It’s spelled as one word because the JGB/Merl Saunders album “Live at Keystone” had the title listed as one word.

I had been saving the name The Conniptions for a few years, intending to use it for my next band and when we formed the band in 2001, that became the name, The word conniption means a fit of rage or hysteria, which suits a high energy rock and roll band. Most people in the region know what a conniption is and remember their parents telling them not to have a conniption when they acted up as children, so it was a catchy name.

I have heard the word conniption followed by fit. Don't have a conniption fit, I was probably told by my parents.

Yeah, lots of people around here in Johnstown say conniption fit too. A conniption is actually a fit; so, a conniption fit would be redundant like say a fit fit. It has definitely turned out to be a great, catchy name for our band.

Mama Corn is what one of Jeremy and Bruce's clients called his mom. Bruce and Jeremy met while working with an autistic teen... if he felt you were part of his family, he'd say your name with his last name: Corn.
Plus, it has a bit of a hippie vibe, and a possible reference to corn-likker. It's short, but multi-layered.

well scince we do 80's hair metal we wanted something that fit. most of the hair bands from the 80's came off of the "Sunset Strip"

when i still belonged to said band, we got our name (2fist'd backhand) from sitting around shootin the crap, and after some goofy names it was suggested and it kinda stuck...i liked it better then when we called ourselves Y knot? lol

We never (still haven't) came up with a name that fits, but our notes for the project all seemed to have the same 'shorthand' version of what it was:

kBand

After a while it grew on us. You got yer email, you got yer ipod, you go yer kBand.

Bob the other guy (keyboard player) came up with that name and logo years ago and just started using it around 2 years ago. The Delve seemed to fit cause we delved right in to it when we played. We always did improv from beginning to end. But Bob wouldn't play out so I guess we are done.
