Gary is one of my all-time favorite guitar players. I'll have to break out and play my copies of Corridors of Power and his double-live album sometime today. R.I.P.

Wow, that is a shocker. He was one of the greatest of all time. He will definitely be missed. :(

I guess on the bright side; him and Phil Lynott can be jamming together again.

My favorite Gary Moore shredfest, on a Yardbirds classic performed live in 1984:

This hits me like a ton of bricks. I can't say how much his touch, phrasing, and TONE have impacted me over the years. Thin Lizzy's Roisin Dubh (Black Rose) is still one of my all time favorite tunes. I remember driving around on more than one occasion with Whitedevilone listening to Gary and just being astounded. R.I.P. Gary Moore. You'll be missed.

Wow...this is a shocker for sure. What an absolutely amazing talent that the music world just lost, this sucks. I still can't believe it. Gary is my wife's favorite guitarist too. I really enjoyed his playing on the Thin Lizzy, "The Boys Are Back In Town" DVD filmed in Sydney, Australia in 1978. Also, Gary played a tribute concert to Phil Lynott in Dublin on August 20, 2005 which was great & now even a more treasured DVD. Gary played his guitar like he came out of his mother's womb with it. The man was one of the greatest of the greats. R.I.P. Gary...sadly missed already.

He died in his sleep. There is no report of the cause. We probably won't know the cause for a while, if they ever release the cause at all.

Whenever its a male over 50 and occurs overnight and suddenly, a cardiovascular cause is the first to be ruled out.

Gary Moore RIP

Post by joltinjeff »

I saw him live in Wurzburg Germany in April 1983 at an outdoor rock fest and was blown away by his playing which made go buy his Corridors of Power album.
I have been a long time fan of this particular album because of the songs came at great and bad times in my life....when I broke up with a girl "Empty Rooms" would fill my headphones......other favorites are "I Can't Wait Until Tomorrow" which was one of his songs I was able to perform while in a band in Germany.....
Such a great loss, tonight's agenda....going back and listening to those songs and watching youtube videos of him....
RIP Gary, you will be sorely missed!!!

wow....I really liked his playing, especially the solo blues stuff (oh, pretty woman, and king of the blues). I just downloaded a bunch of his stuff onto my ipod last week. I will be listening to it with a different attitude now.

How do you explain Keith Richards? There are marathon runners who die early of heart disease, it is in your genes.

Only rarely it is purely genetic, usually it's a combo of poor health choices AND genetics. So sad about Gary Moore. I wonder who inherits Peter Green's guitar now?
