RIP, I really liked the Grass Roots back in the day. Had their 8 track for my 67 Buick. At least we still have Creed on The Office, and original member of that band.

Still enjoy listening to The Grass Roots after all of these years. What a shame. Seems like we keep losing someone every time we turn around!

That's too bad. RIP Rob! I had the pleasure of playing/opening for The Grass Roots on several occasions with Sidewalk Romeo in New England and in PA years ago. They were a good bunch of guys to hang around with. One time we actually had to pick Rob up off the floor because he was a bit drunk and fell off a chair prior to a gig. We propped him up on stage and he still sang like a bird. His wife was pissed!

Gee Dwayne, thanks for posting this and I know that you worked with him and witnessed his alcohol problems.

I love the "Grassroots" and met Rob at the "Casa Romama" in Johnstown about 28 years ago. It was a big deal to me.

The Grass Roots were one of my early favorites when I first started listening to rock'n'roll. Two of the first 45's I owned were "Glory Bound" and "The Runway." I think I used to have "Heaven Knows" on 45 as well.

I remember seeing the Grass Roots at Penn State Altoona later on, I think during the Blair County Arts Fest one year.

The Grass Roots were actually started by songwriting/producer/musician/singer duo P. F. Sloan and Steve Barri (Secret Agent man, Eve Of Destruction, You Baby, A Must To Avoid, and many others). They recruited some other studio musicians to start recording. Eventually, they needed to have a "real band" called The Grass Roots and went through several groups before settling on a somewhat steady lineup. The Grass Roots had huge success and a lot of single hit records including 21 Top 40 singles.

From 1967 to 1972, The Grass Roots set a record for being on the Billboard charts 307 straight weeks. They are one of only nine bands that have charted twenty nine or more Top 100 Billboard singles. They have sold over twenty million records worldwide. They hold the all time attendance record for a one act, the US concert of 600,000 people on July 4th, 1982 in Washington, DC. They have appeared on over 50 national television shows
