Deaf woman hears for the first time...
Amazing!!
its about time we are able to fix things like blindness or deafness.
Shit, we have things to give old men boners. We need to focus more on things that actually help people. What a cool video.

Its not always a good thing for them to hear. It sounds odd I know, but even though we (as a hearing majority) see being deaf as a 'problem' and being 'broken' its not always the case. Deaf people look at it just as anyone looks at themselves for having brown hair. Didn't see this story, but most, at least in the realm of cochlear implants, are a 50/50 chance. There are many pros and cons to the implants in which I wont go into here, but studying to be an ASL interpreter, I've been exposed to this concept. The big one that gets me is the fact that people with implants wont ever be able to have a MRI, because it interferes with the implant, so if they ever need one, they're SOL. Also, with the implant, they are put into limbo culturally. The Deaf tend to look down upon it, and its yet mostly they can't hear like people naturally born hearing can, so they're a little bit out of that box too. I'm not sure what point I take on it, and I don't want this to turn into a political-type thread, but figured I'd make a point.
