The album "Montrose" is still one of my favorites to this day.

Wow, that is a shocker. They were a great band. I wonder how Sammy Hagar is taking it? RIP

That is very sad. His work on The Edgar Winter Group first album and the first Montrose album are two of my all time favorite records. What a great guitarist no matter what he did. R.I.P.

Ronnie led a number of his own bands including Montrose and Gamma as well as solo albums and performing with a variety of musicians, including Sammy Hagar, Herbie Hancock, Van Morrison, The Beau Brummels, Boz Scaggs, Beaver & Krause, Gary Wright, Tony Williams, The Neville Brothers, Dan Hartman, Edgar Winter and Johnny Winter just to name a few.

I know that there was a lawsuit filed by him against Gary Moore to recover his, I believe, '59 Les Paul. It was stolen at a gig and eventually wound up in Gary's collection. Does anyone know if he ever got it back? How ironicly sad that both of these guitar icons should pass about a year apart. Like undercoverjoe stated, 'Thanks for the music'....to both Ronnie and Gary... you both are and will be missed.

Did you know Ronnie Montrose played all those cool guitar parts on Wild Night by Van Morrison?

Loved that older stuff with Sammy.

Ronnie is one of my all time favorites. I got into Gamma before I knew about Montrose. Loved both of those bands. I played GK guitar amps because Ronnie did. Always knocked me out how fierce he was on stage in contrast to how mellow and thoughful he was in normal conversation. Thank you, Ronnie for all of the great music and that MONSTER TONE!
