How many of you guys are in to shooting guns

I probably have the typical Penna. rural experience of going out hunting deer with my dad at about age 10 or so on our farm. I have guns and enjoy target practicing now and then.

I don't hunt anymore, I could never eat that much venison.

I have one or more firearms, I never get into that on the internet. Growing up where we have, it's just part of the life, but I look at it a bit different than alot of gun-owners. It ain't nuthin' but a thang. I don't view it as a hobby, or sit and polish them, or daydream about using them. They're in the same realm as kayak paddles for me... something you have if you want to kayak. No biggie.

I totally agree with your outlook on this. And I equally commend you on your use of kayaking in this thread.
I shot a .25 last sunday but I didn't hit anything because the kittens were too far away.

Im not a guy

but I enjoy shooting my gun. I dont hunt, I just like target shooting. Its a great way to relieve some tension. Im not very good though.

Well, the .25 has the speed, both in muzzle velocity and shots-on-target, but is generally lacking in accuracy (.25's are notorious for having short barrels) and stopping-power. Kittens are wily... bobbing, weaving, and looking too cute to dispatch... I'd go with an open-choke shotgun. And LEAD your moving targets.

Okay, disclaimer. I do not shoot kittens. Kittens are for shark bait.

To me, guns are like bass guitars. No real reason to own more than two but it's nice to have as many as possible. When the flesheaters start to take over...now that's a different story.

Three is a good minimum... one rifle, one pistol and one shotgun. But you are right, the more the merrier.

Ya gotta cover the bases. I have 3 handguns. A .357 for the cannon effect, although kinda expensive to shoot. A .22/.22 mag cause you can shoot all day for a couple bucks. A 9mm auto for rapid fire and a 12 gauge pump. I'd like to get a .243 some day, just because.

There you go. Good, flat-shooting high-velocity round, well-suited for long-range varmint-hunting, but can still take down a deer with a well-placed shot. Doesn't cripple your shoulder, either, and the gun itself is usually a bit lighter, if you carry it around all day.

Me, I enjoy firearms. Love my Browning Hi-Power 9mm, which is an "oldie but a goodie". I believe that Gallowglass has one also. Great handgun.

9mm is a great round. The number of quality compact 9s that are currently on the market is really making me want to switch from my regular carry wheel gun (snubby .357) to a compact 9. Mainly the Kel-Tec PF-9 and the Diamondback DB9, there are lots of options out there though.

All the knock down power of a .45 but more rounds can fit in a mag....

Kel-Tec also makes a folding rifle called the Sub 2000 that I have been looking to buy. They come in 40sw and 9mm and can be configured to use Glock and a few other companies' magazines.

Last year, they were going for $359, but now, with all the the anti-gun sabre rattling, used ones are going for more than $500. The gun store in Duncansville says they get about one in per month and it lasts about 1/2 hour, lol.

If anybody sees one cheap and doesn't buy it, PM me please.
