Drumhead Question!
Any of my fellow drummers here ever blown out the reso head on your snare? I'm coping with my second one in three months. Wondering if perhaps my drum doesn't release enough air through the vent at stick impact... Thoughts??
Dood...

Thinking out loud...It could be breaking at the snare wires because there is no give in the wires. Could the wires be too tight?
I doubt it's because there isn't enough air escaping. A famous snare and drum builder (who's name I can't think of right now) uses NO vents in his snare drums.
Solution two...don't hit it so hard...LOL just kidding
Evans makes a heavier snare side reso that is 5 mils thick, 2 mils thicker than standard 3 mils reso.

If that doesn't work a remo diplomat clear is 7.5 mils.
Let us know how it works out...
