I love strats and my vintage fender amp but.....
Fender is a disgusting company. First off American made strats are way overpriced and the profit isn't going to the american worker. They bought Tacoma guitars ( manufactured in Seatle ) in 2006 and shut them down shortly after the failed attempt to have them produced overseas failed. They then bought Guild moved the majority of the manufacturing overseas and overly inflated the price of the US models. Then they bought Ovation, moved the majority of the manufacturing overseas and once again inflated the price of the US made models.
Fender has turned into a disgusting corporation that is a representation of everything wrong with this country.

Gibson bought Dobro and makes cheap models overseas, you can buy a US made Dobro made by Gibson for about $1500 wich is a little pricey but not as bad as the overpricing to get a US made Guild or Ovation right now.

I certainly hope Martin never sales out, although they make there own cheap models in Mexico. They still offer some fairly reasonable US models.

The reason American made is more expensive, is because American workers make more money that over seas. You want American, you gotta pay more.

Agree 100%. I have more american made products then most. Its kinda an obsession, I have US made boots, sneakers, jeans, jackets, shirts, underwear etc.
What I don't like is when a product is overly inflated because its american made and the profits go to the corporation. In 2008 you could get ahigher end ovation for around $1200-$1300 now you can buy the korean made model for $1100 or the US model for $2700. The extra money isn't going to the worker.

I think the unions are to blame. There's a point when a guy that literally sits on a stool and watches a monitor all day, when they're doing that, they don't need 50 bucks an hour and full benefits that include elective surgery and hair coloring. The unions are political puppet masters with a nation destroying agenda.

Unions are the last defense against all the aforementioned bad stuff. It's not possible that unions are political "puppet masters." Politics is sponsored by the people the unions fight: corporate concern. The idea that unions are so powerful that they control the government that corporations own and run?

If corporate concerns can band together for their own self-interest, and it's laudable... then workers MUST band together in their own self-defense. It's a constitutionally guaranteed right, and no amount of propaganda can stop it.

If you don't like cheap foreign junk, stop rewarding big business for sending your neighbors' jobs there.

Actually, it's a right guaranteed by the NLRA and RLA.
