HOMEGROWN ROCKER 6/1/25

Post by Jim Price »

Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the June 1 edition of “The Homegrown Rocker,” which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock (www.q94classicrock.com), and from 10 PM to midnight on 107.1 and 101.3 Jack FM (www.1071jack.fm)!

We headed back to the mailboxes on this week's program to explore more new local and regional music recordings that have arrived in recent weeks. We debuted a lot of new tunes this week, including numbers from Buffalo Rose, Marshall Stone, Kitchen Teeth, Lady King & the Aces, Wanderlost, Leo DiSanto, Toy (the Band), Caleb J. Murphy, Pensive Fear, Iron Wolf, Drill Press and Anthrophobia! We also updated "Local Music News," dug out a 1968 45 rpm single from Johnstown's Satrycon for our "Local Music Flashback," and stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a brand new single from Youngstown, Ohio's J.D. Eicher! (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94’s website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on “The Professor’s Classroom,” and then scroll down to “Homegrown Rocker Podcast” and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 060125.)

In Local Music News...

Young Blair County rockers The Pines have not been seen on area stages for several months, and the group released a statement on social media this past week explaining their absence. According to the release, with all four members recently graduating high school, their schedules shifted dramatically between college, work and personal goals. It became more difficult to align everything, and as a result, The Pines will not be playing any shows in the foreseeable future. As each member is embracing a new chapter, their journey as a band is pausing. Guitarist Logan Warner and drummer Ben Brumbaugh will be collaborating on a new music project, and further updates on all four members will be reported on the group's Facebook page.

Western PA rockers Post Traumatik have announced that they will be returning to the recording studio later this month to record their follow-up to 2020's pro-wrestling anthem “Running Wild,” which saluted Hulk Hogan and Hulkamania. The new song will pay homage to The Ultimate Warrior, another wrestling icon from the members' childhoods.
