Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the June 8 edition of “The Homegrown Rocker,” which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock (www.q94classicrock.com), and from 10 PM to midnight on 107.1 and 101.3 Jack FM (www.1071jack.fm)!
We continued to dig through the program's mailboxes this week to unveil more new local and regional music recordings that have arrived in recent weeks. We debuted many more new tunes this week, including the first single from Halestorm's forthcoming new album, along with numbers from Ted McCloskey, Blood Union, StoneMan, Dr. Nyce, Devin Sherman, Alex Ramsdell, Yigga Digga, Paper Plants and Rattle Bones! We also updated “Local Music News,” dug out a 2005 song from Altoona soul and rap rockers The Opposition for our “Local Music Flashback,” and stepped “Across State Lines” to hear a music from Cleveland, Ohio’s Mourning [A] BLKstar! (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94’s website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on “The Professor’s Classroom,” and then scroll down to “Homegrown Rocker Podcast” and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 060825.)

A new album of never-released tracks from 1970s Pittsburgh rockers Diamond Reo has just been released. The album, titled “The Diamonds,” features 11 songs that suggest what a fourth Diamond Reo album might have sounded like. The album is produced by former Diamond Reo member Norman Nardini with longtime friend Steve Acri as executive producer. Diamond Reo was signed nationally to Kama Sutra Records in the 1970s, and scored a Top 40 hit in 1975 with their hard-rock version of Marvin Gaye's “Ain't That Peculiar.” The group disbanded in 1979. Norman Nardini performed at an album-release event this past Friday night (June 6) at Get Hip Records in Pittsburgh’s North Side.
A popular York area live music venue is no more. Fat Daddy’s in York closed its doors in 2022 after 25 years in business, and the structure itself was torn down this past week. The venue’s owners, Matthew and Sean Landis, have since opened another venue near the Fat Daddy’s location called Banana Max.
