I saw Shinedown at Crowbar in February, and that guy does a helluva job, too - not in the league of the aforementioned, but a really cool voice - the guy from Alter Bridge, too.....

of course, as for frontmen, there is only one... look to the left of this post...

If we are talking performance wise, and stage presence, i would have to say the ex-lead singer for creed Scott Stapp has awesome stage presence (yes, i know im gonna get ripped on for this) but he has one hell of a stage presence, while every song was going on, you could feel that guy all around you, it was crazy. Also, stage presence, i would have to give a little respect to some newer artists as well such as the lead singer for 3 doors down and chad kroeger from nickelback. I saw them in concert last year and they both put on one hell of a performance. They arent anything special as singers, but as frontmen, they let you know they are there.

Another guy, vocally and stage presence, that i would have to say puts on a good show is the lead singer for this new band thats out, Submersed. I saw them in concert with alter bridge at the rock jungle in pittsburgh, and he really suprised me, he has a higher pitched range with a really smooth low end growl, and a very melodic in-between. There arent many singers that are coming out from new bands that i can really say any of this about, so i have to get the props in when i can for bands that i really like.

The leaed singer for shinedown is o.k. They killed "Simple Kind a man". That is probably the worst remake I ever heard.... The lead singer for 3doors down is good also. And the lead singer for Snow Patrol is good. I pretty much agree with all others listed ...

I thought that version of Simple Man was better than the original. As a general rule I dislike Lynyrd Skynyrd a great deal but, that remake I thought was pretty good.

That must be why a group of Creed fans got together and sued them to try to get their money back, siting the aweful performance by Stapp....lol

Well...yea...that did happen, but im talking pre-Weathered scott stapp, he was awesome during the My Own Prison days and the Human Clay days, but he turned into a hairy dickbeater towards the end of the Weathered tour.

I felt bad for the other musicians in the band (Tremonti, Phillips, and Hestla) when that happened. Personally dont care for the lead singer, good frontman and all, when he wants to be, but is a royal dick. Im glad they broke up and tremonti formed alter bridge, much better music anyway with a better singer.

When he would actually sing, Phil Anselmo of Pantera has (had?) an incredible voice - listen to Cemetery Gates or Medicine Man and a few other tunes - MAN that dude can sing - their style turned towards the growly type of vocals, but I would have liked to hear more of his melodic capabilities.....

I was told that he sounded a lot like Rob Halford back in Patera's earlier days. I've never heard those early albums like "Power Metal", so I really can't comment.
