Just recovering from a night out with The Nightcrawlers. Not from the booz, but from being blown away from all the talent on stage. I remember back in June on vacation and Rock Page Ron telling us " Hey ya gotta hear these guys and gal !!". He broke out their CD and we listened. I remember someone saying " These guys are from State College ?". If you haven't seen them yet and you enjoy great originals, GO NOW!!!!!!!! It's worth the trip. Noah' s crisp guitar sound just ripping at your soul, Aeb's keyboard and flute melting your heart, Steve's DW drums lifting your ass off of the seats, and Jason's bass putting the jazz in your bones. There aren't enough adjectives in the English language to describe them so GO SEE THEM!!!!!!!! Oh and the vocals are bitchin too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I second that verdict, nakedtwister!

The Nightcrawlers bring the total package: stellar musicianship, a balance between inventive original music and flavorful renditions of classics and favorites, snappy grooves, tasty arrangements and much more! Noah Figlin again showed a wide variety of guitar tones and spacey effects; his work on Zeppelin's "Ramble On" was incredible! Aeb Byrne's stellar flutework, tasty keyboard work, and her fiery vocals shined, especially on Janis' "Me and Bobby McGee" and Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots!" And Steve Arnold on the drums and Jason Ebersole on bass kept the rhythms tight and together.

The Nightcrawlers will be making more Altoona appearances in the next few months - if you haven't witnessed them yet, do yourself a big favor and catch their show at your earliest convenience, you will not be disappointed!

JP's compositions are always a
linguistic treat to read, but your review mentioned music affecting the Soul and Heart. That was enough to convince me The Nightcrawlers are a must see!

I also have to admit, feeling Jazz in my bones and getting my ass lifted out of my seat, didn't sound too shabby, either!

Noah the guitar player and lead singer kinda reminds me of a cross between a young Bob Dylan and Prince. He plays guitar as well as Prince but has his own stlye and tone (at such an early age!). The young lady on flute and keyboards is so talented and adds a dimension found nowhere else around here.

A very talented and entertaining band.

Thanks YankeeRose for the kind words. You know a few weeks ago a very wise man told me that the greatest conglomeration of music talent is right here in Central Pa.. Probably one of my most favorite things to do these days is to go see that talent. I would much rather see local bands,and other Pa. bands from afar, than to pay $125 per ticket to see "National Bands" rape us of our hard earned money. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the big bands but the amount of talent in our area satisfies my music craving. By the way the afor mentioned wise man is the same man that created this page for us to express our feelings and opinions about music. So Ron we salute you and thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!

And also we must salute and thank Jim Price for his objective opinions and reviews he gives every week. Without positive and negative feedback we cannot improve. Without him locale bands would never get any airtime on the radio. So thank you too Jim!!!!!!!

Yeah, I agree... those guys and gal have such a tight groove together. They play a great blend of covers songs, doing them justice and if you haven't heard their originals, do yourself a favor and buy their CD.... good wholesome tunes.

Sorry I missed that one... I have a bad cold, and everytime I think I'm past the worst, it gets worse. Anyway, I figured I'd better rest, because Sidestep plays Glenn's Place tonight, and singing with a cold really takes the wind out of my sails. Noah offered me a harmonica sit-in... to come up and jam with them on his awesome DW's of his and yes Bobby, Rob, and Hawk "that snare of his is killer...Great warmth, to powerful tone and color". Everywhere you play it is another treat....

Thank You Steve, Noah, Aeb, and Jason for the experience to jam with the crawlers, another highlight for myself.

I was floored by the performance. They make it seem as if they'd been playing professionally for 30 years! They are water tight. As mentioned before, there are no words to describe the music, especially the originals. The covers even blew me away. Noah was dead on with Sultan's of Swing. You can tell where he gets his influence. And Ramble On from Zep.......Holy Cow!!! Aeb somehow managed to play flute and keys in synch with the guitar all while having to hold her flute up to her vocal mic because of flute mic problems. I couldn't even dream of multi-tasking with bass, but she was triple-tasking! Dang!!!!!!!! Jason on bass fit perfectly in the mix with phat and perfectly played grooves as were the drums! WOW. That's basically what I have to say. Just WOW!!!

Thanks everyone for the kind words! It was really great to see so many Rockpagers out Friday night. Its a good feelin to know were on the right track with what were doing and that folks find our originals appealing. For me personally, I hope the biggest thing that comes across while we are playing is that we are having FUN.

As Jim said, we'll be playing more in the Altoona area in the future. But until then you can always come to State College to catch us.

My teenage daughter has been "out" to the Crowbar and another place, too - underage shows, but still! I've only ever gone Bowling, once, in State College.

I dislike going to new places alone, but I guess there's a first time for everything?

Sorry...we dont do those two songs, but we do "Sultans of Swing" and "Hillfarmers Blues".

We will be back at Pelligrines and Burgis. No dates confirmed yet however. We are also doing the Toys for Tots Benefit (I think thats correct) on Nov. 12th at City Limits. We'll be doing an original showcase in December in Altoona, but don't want to give the details until the event coordinator confirms everything up.

Please feel free to check our website for other dates....we also play State College, Harrisburg and Philly.

Just for the record, the comparison of Noah to a young Bob Dylan and Prince is truely made as a great compliment. I think we can all agree dylan and Prince are both incredibly talented musicians.

Others have mentioned Mark Knofler, and I totally agree with that comparison also. I also hear a little Roy Buchanan, especially when he makes that telecaster squeal.

Aeb adds an unequaled dimension, with her cool jazz influences on flute and keyboard (mindblowing when she does both at the same time on a few songs)!

Steve and the new bassist who I really dont know bring a somewhat reggea or maybe more African beat to the mix. Add all this together and this is a great band, with their own style.
