best and worst live bands you've seen???
havent really posted here much so i thought i would start. who are the BEST and WORST bands you've seen live? and by worst live band i am meaning bands who you thought had great cd's or heard lots of hype on, couldnt wait to see, then left dissapointed, and also who is the best band you've ever seen live. please try and keep it unoffensive towords anyones band who is on rockpage and also please no "every cover band i've ever seen sucked" comments either. i dont want it to turn ugly lol. and i'm not saying that, by the way, i was using it as an example.
about 3 years ago i saw taking back sunday, who i think puts out great cds, but live i thought they were aweful. last night i went to see every time i die and was blown away. i didnt expect them to be as good live as they were. so there's my best and worst.

Jeramy, I understand what you're trying to do here, but might I suggest keeping this thread to a national band level? It's just really opening a can of worms to ask someone to say what the worst local band they've seen is. It's just an online fight waiting to happen, and it might get ugly.
My best show: Korn and Rob Zombie @ Bryce Jordan. Zombie had the awesome stage show, Korn had awesome presence.
My worst show: The Allman Brothers @ Bryce Jordan. The sound sucked ass, and Jamoie (one of the drummers) barely played, he kept looking around like he was lost, and kept adjusting his drums. Just a real letdown.

I think that there's an inverse relationship between how tight of a show the Allmans put on and how much pot they smoked before taking the stage.ToonaRockGuy wrote:My worst show: The Allman Brothers @ Bryce Jordan. The band that most surprised me, being better than I expected, was probably The Pretenders at Penn State's Rec Hall in early 1982. I wasn't expecting them to deliver the energy onstage that they did, I was impressed. That show was noteworthy, too, because guitarist James Honeyman-Scott died from drug problems just a few months later.
The performer that disappointed me the most, was probably Ace Frehley at New Sebastiano's in the early 90's. Ace was drunk, and it showed in his guitar playing and singing. As I understand it, though, the New Sabs crowd was fortunate - I heard that out of the three shows that Ace did during that swing through PA (the other shows were at Stoney's in State College and in Pittsburgh), the New Sabs show was the only one where he actually stepped onstage without help.

yeah i was definatly meaning national acts. thats why i added that part about not putting in about bands on rockpage. BUT if you think a rockpage/local band is the BEST band you've ever seen go ahead and put it down. thanks for pointing that out though cause we definatly arent here to put anyone down. haha unless its my band then feel free!ToonaRockGuy wrote:Jeramy, I understand what you're trying to do here, but might I suggest keeping this thread to a national band level?

First I have to say "sorry Chris"!
The worst live performance I've ever seen was Mushroomhead, at the Malevolent Metalfest in 2001. Horrible bunch of noise and the most entertaining part of their performance were, if I do remember correctly, the topless chicks on stage - and no, I'm NOT gay!
I have many "Best"...Jimmy Page with The Black Crowes was definitely 1 of them, as was G3.
I'll stop there.

Best live show I ever seen was Strung Out at of all places the State College VFW!! They are probably the tightest band I've ever seen as far as harmonizing while playing extremely fast.
Worst: Every time I've ever seen Pantera live.
Love the music, they just sucked live.

A few other S.C. musician friends and I were at the Stoney's Post House show where Ace was touted the "4th best guitarist in the world". By the end of the show, we had decided that he was the 4th best guitarist in the room.Jim Price wrote:The band that most surprised me, being better than I expected, was probably The Pretenders at Penn State's Rec Hall in early 1982. Aside from that, I remember BTO was pretty sloppy at St. Francis in 1975.

YES!!! hahahaha... but you'll notice there has been no mention of billy corgan yet. thats a completely inside joke no one will get, unless Justin posts on this topic and then you'll probably understand. I would imagine Jimmy Page playing live with anyone would be a great show. Unless it was Puff Daddy, or is it P. Diddy, or no its just Diddy right? or Puffy? I dont know. Seriously though seeing Page and The Black Crowes live HAD to be amazing.AtoMikEnRtiA wrote:oh fuck she mentioned jimmy page with jeramy now on the boards.. we're all fucked..YankeeRose wrote:First I have to say "sorry Chris"!

There have been a lot of bands that I have seen and been really disappointed in. Redd Kross has to be the worst though. They opened for The Presidents of the United States back a while ago and they were terrible. They were way too loud, the guitars had entirely too much treble and their songs all ran together.
The best band that I have ever seen would have to be a tie between TOOL and Clutch. Both bands bring something different to the table but they are both in a whole different place when they play live.

Thank GOD! (...or AtoMikEnRtiA...)
I was afraid I'd again offended someone by offering my opinion... By the way God, how's Don Knotts doing?
You know, I can't wait to meet you, one day...
I thought I was going to Sunday night, when I had NO BRAKES and couldn't stop driving on down Juniata Gap Road...WHOO, was it FUN!!!

Best Shows are, Chevelle, Korn, Static X, Mudvayne, Stone Temple Pilots,
Megadeth.
Worst Shows is by far Rob Zombie, I've seen him several times and his stage show is awesome but I personally think the man cant sing for shit live.
Also a band that shouldn't even be able to walk the planet is Third Eye Blind, seen them with Eve 6, all I can say is I wanted to tell them face to face they suck, I wanted my money back.

Did they suck musically or did they suck because Phil's a self-important asshole who thinks that people feel like hearing his asinine opinions at a concert? I know that he was turning into a smack-head near the end of Pantera's career, so that may have a lot to do with it. I have Live: 101 proof, and while I think that it could have been mixed better, I thought the band was really tight on it.DirtySanchez wrote: Worst: Every time I've ever seen Pantera live.

I'm not saying that you're wrong to think that they suck. I was just wondering what sucked about them. *LOL*
