DUA will now be playing with new guitaists Rory Dalanky...hes a cool dude and every1 gets along with him...cool style of playing...good tastes in metal...we hope to get some shows set up soon...as fo right now we are in the process of writing music...and hopefully getting this CD done soon

for those who dont know...his dad is ronnie dalansky...(i think thats his name) lead guitar player and lead singer for Half Tempted. I myself have never heard them play...but possibly we could be sharinig a show...a father son thing...that would be really cool...he is also 18 so as long as we have parents with the ones who are under 18 we can play in bars right?

From what I understand, a performing musician is considered an employee of the bar and can legally be there if at least 18 so as long as they don't consume any alchohol. At least this is how it has been unless the law has been changed. I began performing at 18 and spoke with the state police about this first. I wanted to first start playing when I was 16, but I was told I had to be 18.

There are several threads on this throughout the files of Rockpage. The most obvious example was Halestorm, who had to relocate away from PA due to Arejay's age at the time. Unless the law has changed, I believe you must be 21.

Before this turns into a bitchfest.... id like to congratulate Rory on the gig. Growing up with Ronny and playing all those years i feel like a proud uncle right now!

Play anywhere and everywhere you can get away with. Times are changing and we might not have bars to sneak into anymore.

I played in bars before I was 21 years old, and it was perfectly legal as per how the PLCB laws were explained to me. As long as I was 18 and was hired to play, I was considered a contracted employee of the bar (for that show). I was obviously not allowed to consume alcohol. I believe this is why you can work in a bar at age 18. I'm not sure about actually bartending, but you can be waitstaff (many places that serve beer/liquor do). PLCB agents showed up at shows my band played back then, and we never bothered (I was asked for ID and why I was there, but no hassle). As far as being under 18, my understanding of the law is that you cannot play in bars even if parents are there. Law as I understand it states that anyone under age 18 must vacate bar by I think 10 PM. If you are 18 and not an employee, you can be there if your parent/legal guardian is with you (again no alcohol obviously). I could be wrong, but that's the way it has always been explained to me. I never had any reason to believe otherwise. I have had friends/family who brought their 18 or older sons/daughters to see my bands, and they were carded and allowed to be there as long as their parents were with them throughout the show. I'm curious as to the actual law on this.

By the way, I never met Ronny'son but I wish him the best of luck! I know the last time I spoke to Ron on the phone, his son was jammin' in the background.

condemned existence played their...their drummer was 16...it was cool at aldos as long as his mom went...i dont have any idea on the rules i just thought that because he could go that it was okay...also my buddy cris dell has played at bars under the age of 18...if any1 does know the rule on this please let me know

the 4dd dudes played bars before they were 21. so obviously exceptions can be made. i guess its just selective.

We played a bar in Md w/ Cody,they don't have the bullshit laws like Pa. does.

who knows i guess the only solution to the problem is to try and see if we can...if not...its not the end of the world...but it wouldnt hurt to give it a shot

Like i said, it depends who you are if they let you play bars. certain bar owners will break the rules for some, but not others. very shitty if you ask me.

I have never been asked my age while performing at any bar.

The Warehouse let my parents bring my 14 year old brother and my 16 year old sister in while we were playing. they had to sign a form and stuff.

And the most recent metal project I was in had a 17 year old bass player and we played bars.

ok yeah, to add to rob and rreihart's statements of 17 yr olds in bars...

a couple summers ago (june 05?) Eyes of Anguish opened for Cyphin and Sound of Silence at the County Line Inn - Mount Union. At the time -- Dusty, and Jessy were 17, and Baker was 16. Welsh had just turned 20... and they had played the 'Line twice..

granted it's the county line inn -- so im not sure what the security or any of that nonsense is like...

EOA also was booked to play Peter's Pub in Oakland (Pittsburgh) on October 8th, 2005 - but the bar closed up shop before that happened...

i think if you play and leave immediately following... shouldn't be a problem..
