Finally....a reason to watch the Grammys!

I am glad I didn't watch it either. They proved just how pathetic they are by giving the dixie chunks five awards. Talk about a slap in the face to the American public and showing how much of a liberal douche bag they are. The grammies are awarded for the suits who like them, not talent; not what the people want or the record sales. It is a useless bunch of crap that is nothing more worthwhile than the toilet paper you use to wipe your butt ....

In the 80's Janet Jackson was nomimated for some sort of instrumental category (best insturmentalist ?) for her work on drum machine.

A writer for Rolling Stone or something similar said it was the end of the Grammys having any revelence.

A report said many people in audience left after the Chicks won their 2nd award. But the cameras did not show all the empty seats.

Who cares? Seriously! All of these awards ceremonies are is a chance for the music industry to kiss its own ass. Winning a grammy is the local equivalent of winnning a battle of the bands: It really doesn't mean shit.

Anyone else own the CD, feel that the Dixie Chicks deserved to win and have the 'nads to say so?

The Police rocked! "Roxanne" was, I do believe, one of the first tunes, if not the first tune I ever heard them perform on Saturday Night Live, also LIVE. The one absolutely rotten part of the evening was Rascall Flatts' lead singer attempting the Eagles' tunes. EW!

What is so un-American about giving an award to the Dixie Chicks? If you support freedom of expression and artistic freedom, then you have to support the freedom of others to express ideas that are different from your own. That's America.

I'm not a Dixie Chicks fan, but I support their right to sing and speak about whatever the hell they want to. Bravo to them for being provocative artists in a genre that's become a haven for comfortable conformity.

I've thought for years that the Grammy's had become irrelevant. It seems like every year the worst music wins. The fact that Gnarls Barkley won an award just about makes me sick.

I hate the Dixie Chicks....not because of their political beliefs and all that shit, but because that lead singer's voice cuts a hole in my eardrum. Can't stand that high pitched whine.

I thought it was interesting that most people hate "Crazy Bitch" by Buckcherry and write it off as useless hooky pop/rock drivel, yet they were up for a Grammy for that song.

I don't care what anyone says, that song has a great fuckin' groove and an awesome hook.

It probably (IMO) gets the biggest crowd response at Bad Daze gigs.(That I've been to) The crowds LOVE that song.

Agreed. Saying they don't deserve a Grammy or that they're "un-American" because they spoke out against Bush is retarded. Screw that lock-step mind set.

Personally, I don't care for their music at all. The Grammys rarely reflect what I would call the "cream of the crop." I'm still having Jethro Tull flashbacks ...

Compared to the other nominees in most of the categories, having actually heard the entire CD - not simply one tune - yeah, imo they were more deserving than Justin Timberlake.

Even John Mayer thought so, and

did you see/hear him play that Guitar!?! Who knew??? Heaven forbid, say, Neil Young should have won any! (See: sarcasm, i.e., I didn't really mean that last sentence.) Oh, does ANYONE know what the heck the RHCP were saying, and also, what did the sign say? I could decipher only the last word, and it appeared to be "Coleman".

Steve (The Verge drummer) knew and dumped a load of Mayer mp3s on me to listen to. Some nice stuff there. We may have to do some.

I loved the John Mayer Trio CD, definitely not similar to his solo stuff, the man can play.
I quit liking the Dixierect Chicks when the song, "Goodbye Earl" made wife-on-husband violence permissible. My song, "Goodbye Cheryl," in which a wife attempts to kill her husband and is instead dropped off nude and hogtied in front of Lane Bryant... hell, it never made it past the Grammy nomination committee.

I also thought Sting's voice was in fine form the other night, so textured and complex... not my song choice, but not bad at all.------->JMS
