We just upped our vocal pa with a Mackie 808m and 2 JBL JRX115. Big, big difference from our peavey board and Yamaha speaks. Nice and clean and power to spare. For all were doing PA wise this system rocks for vokes.
Thanks Brother Dickie for the hook ups. One thing is i heard the board gets hot and no fans are inside. Anyone have this model and had heat problems?
Im thinking of modding it with some zalman 80' fans if thats the case. Outside gigs in the sun could be murder.

I haven't heard anything of the sort on this model, however you are wise to already want to mod it with a fan. I would rather be on the safe side myself and it is most definitely a cheap insurance.

I love it when a plan comes together.
I used to use these in my day job... never heard of an overheating problem, but a little computer fan would be a welcome addition on hot day-gigs. I would advise you guys to get something to keep the mixer-amp in... even a plastic tote will work... the pots all have plastic shafts and the knobs stick out pretty far, so broken buttons are common, and the EQ faders are soft, too.
Remember, too, that the ULN preamps are clean and dependable, but the trim controls are a bit different than the old board. They're not linear-taper, so as you turn up the gain to the mic, it's like "louder... louder... CLIPPING!!!!," so be careful with that, because when a Mackie clips, it's not a pleasant sound.
PMAC has an 808S that he feeds to a set of Bag Ends, and it's probably the sweetest-sounding small PA I've heard around here... clean and punchy, with headroom to burn. It's loud, but sweet too, so even cranked, it doesn't hurt your ears.
I'll have to show up and see how good a harmonica sounds through the new system. That's the real test.
