JP's not part of the local music press.
He IS the local music press.

I've watched him progress over the last few decades, from a relatively shy and unassuming guy who just wanted to play heavy music on the radio, into an instantly recognizeable local and regional icon. Next time you see him walk into the room at one of your shows, watch how everybody lights up when he comes in. I envy that.

Here's to 20 more years of lighting up rooms.---->JMS

Shouldn't the professor be elevated to Doctor ? !

He should receive an honorary doctorate of "suppertus live musicoligest" !

Congrats Dr. Jim !

Great work JP. Myself and the HF1 crew send our congrats on your recognition. And Hawk...JP is The Professor. He probably already has his doctorate. He's going for two.

Jim,

Congratulations on the news article. It is nice to see you get the recognition you deserve. While those of us in the regional music scene all know and deeply appreciate what you do for us and your constant support of live music in the area, the general public needs to be aware as well.

I always enjoy seeing you and talking music history.

Keep up the great job!

Yeah, remember that time those two cavemen took those femur bones from that stegosaurus and started beating on dried-out saber-toothed tiger skins stretched over a coconut shell? Oh, not that far back in music history ... sorry.

I agree that this is long overdue. It's about time JP gets recognized for being who he is, and what he does for local musicians.

CONGRATULATIONS JP! If this is the first time The Mirror has recognized your diligent work in 20 years, WOW, but better late than never.

I have no idea how degrees progress, but due to his sage wisdom and knowledge, may I suggest Professor Emeritus? :) No matter, he will always be THE Professor!

We Music fans also owe JP a debt of gratitude. If it were not for his reviews in PA Musician and playing their Tunes on The Backyard Rocker, many of us would have never heard of a great number of local Bands or ever had an interest in going to catch their shows. THANK YOU for all of the wonderful Music memories JP!

Professor Emeritus would mean that JP is retired, something we don't want to see for quite a while. ;) Maybe the Professor will find some graduate TAs and RAs to help him carry out his research on the local music scene.

Thanks for the link, Larry.

 Emeritus means RETIRED!?! As Killer, my bambino, and an actual Tune, say: no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!

You know Paul, JP just might enjoy having the assistance of some TAs or RAs...especially if they have nice Ts and As.

Ditto, ty for the link, Larry.
