Dont Book Zach's management is worthless!!!!

Post by dburley81 »

this is 3 gigs in a row they book then you show up and they tell you to go home there is a game on...Come on i know its a sports bar look at the games decide on the days for no entertainment. Icould have booked other places had offers to play other places but since i scheduled them in december i declined and got screwed in the end. They also have a bad habit of double booking i looked they other day and relized the double booked my dates in April and Feb with the Syrins..No biggie but another reason this place is not organized.. I will finish out my dates but i advise all who may concider to beware!!!!They do nothing for advertising thier entertainment they dont even tell thier own workers when something is happening Screw Zach's......Im sorry im a little pissed but if you book hand them a contract LOL

Thanks for your time and listen to me complain but bottom line TO ANY VENUE THAT BOOKS ENTERTAINMENT!!!!!!!11

I dont think FedUP would go over well at Zach's anyway. But thanks for the heads up. You would think that a place as nice as it is, would be managed better. Go figure...

I think you guys should play Dustin's last gig there. I would love to see the look on all those yuppied up preppies when you throw down some of your metal, with all the dials at 11.

That would be awesome! I think we'd should open with Useless. We llull them into false sense of security. Then drop the hammer on 'em with Ignorance and Apathy. I dont think we'd finish two songs before someone killed the power! Good idea Joe.

We should start a Contract Rockpage hit band. Any musicians or band having trouble at a place can put together a band of RP allstars to go in and scare the shit outa the place. Metal™ for the yups and Jazz™ for the Nascar™ fans. Your genre may vary...
After the post party the said management then wakes in there bed with a head stock in there ass.... :P

Actually, I heard rumors that the same type of situation "may have" or may not have happened at Bar 53 on Saturday night...heard the band showed up and around 8:00 the management told the band that since no one was there, they were only going to pay a certain amount so the band packed up and left......but that is strickly rumor at this time....I've not seen any confirmation of it.

That's one thing nice about our place.....if we book a band, its in a separate room than the bar so if someone wants to come in to down a few drinks and watch the game on tv, they can....of course, they still need to pay the band's cover. Heh...you'd be surprised at the amount of people that pay a cover and don't go back to listen to the band....can't figure that one out...they've missed some really good music.

Yeah, you name dropping on a "rumor" is kinda dirty pool, especially when it's about another bar. Bands giving other bands heads up about clubs' fishy management practices here on Rockpage is one thing, but a bar owner talking trash about another bar owner is no different than if I were to say something like ...

"I heard the reason Zach's canceled Dustin Burley is because he kills little baby kittens on stage during set break."

(You don't do that, do you?!?)

that place (Zachs) always had a real bad rep for servers in town too. That manager lady (owner) is supposed to be a real bitch to work for. I heard the kitchen's dirty too.
I would go there though to see FedUp play, that would be awesome. It is a weird crowd there, they would be very confused. I do go there sometimes to see the Syrins because I think they are fantastic. :D

To stick up for Lisa, It's not uncommon for bars to let the band off early due to lack of an audience. I've seen that happen quite a few times.

You named the bar, which you've identified before as your "competition" then proceeded to propagate a rumor about that bar. Sorry, but that's not cool at all.

Actually, I do. See, the more people come out in the area to see bands, the better luck we have when we book a band. For example, Silver Sunday will be playing at Bar 53 the week before they play at The Popper. If they get a full house just down the road at 53, hopefully they bring those folks along the following weekend at our place. I actually do like bar 53. I like bands coming to the area and I like people coming out to bands. I don't see them, Electric Ave., as competition but as partners in the entertainment business.

I simply put that out there because it was posted about management practices. I felt that it was something that you as bands may want to keep an eye on. That's it.

Whats the ole saying? "Fool me once, shame on ..................."
Not being judgemental but I think I wouldn't have went the 3rd time w/o a contract....If they canceled the 3rd time you would have still had money coming to you if it was in the contract, written that way....It sucks to have that feeling when ya saved them the date...devoted the day to your gig that night, only to feel that unwanted when ya walk thru the door. I guarantee I wouldn't be there the 4th time!!!

Yeah. That sounds good and everything, but even Ive noticed from your past posts you dont like them. Its like me saying a band sucks, but you see, im just a jackass, youre a business owner.
I played @ your bar. I thought it was cool. id give it 2 outta 5 stars on the experience.
With some changes you could have a really good place.
the locals were interesting.

Plus, the rumor you pointed out makes no sense. There's rarely anyone at the venues we play at 8 p.m., including myself (I'm a singer, I show up at 10:15 p.m. for a 10:30 p.m. show  ).

It would be more believable if you would have said, "... around 11 p.m. the management told the band that since no one was there, they were only going to pay a certain amount ..."

Bottom line, spreading crap about your "partners in entertainment" (gimmie a break, being in the bar biz, you compete for every dollar you can squeeze out of the drinking demographic ... customers at the neighboring bar are customers not in your bar) — especially unsubstantiated crap — is inexcusable.

Take the high road. Rumors hurt no matter your intent.
