"A musical pioneer, he is credited with helping to develop a "fusion" drumming style that combined rock with jazz. "

RIP Mitch.

The loss of Mitch saddens me. I really loved his drumming, he was one of my all time favorites. The line-up with him, Jimi, and Billy Cox was the best. Mitch was so jazzy, and yet could really lay it down in a rock context. He was genius. I guess he and Buddy are both drumming w/ Jimi in the the celestial hereafter now. Mitch was the last of "The Experience" line-up. 'Scuse me while I kiss the sky...R.I.P.

Amen to that. Mitch was a real fireball. He was every bit as passionate as Hendrix.

Totally agree! I was never a big fan of Noel's playing, perhaps because he was a guitarist-turned-bassist and it showed in his playing,; but the Hendrix/Cox/Mitchell line-up slammed.

Mitch will be sadly missed.
"He's the electric horseman, you better back off!" - old sKool making a reference to the culturally relevant 1979 film.
