Thought I have seen everything

Post by nakedtwister »

Driving home today I saw something that cracked me the #$%@ up. An Amish guy jogging with a regular Joe. The thing that cracked me up was the regular Joe was in shorts, T, and sneakers while the Amish dude was in full Amish garb. Straw hat, dark green shirt, suspenders, long pants, boots, and a full beard. Sweat pouring off of him. Reminded me of Forrest Gump.

They don't like their picture taken! It steals their soul! Although this one might not mind, he sounds non-traditional.

I wish I could have seen that! That's one of those moments where you have to take a double take and go, "Did I really just see that"? and then you have to wonder the whole way home whether you ACTUALLY saw it or whether your mind was messin with ya. I'm sure the guys from the huffing post are familiar with that feeling... :) Maybe they'll chime in with some interesting stories.

I'LL SHARE A FUNNY STORY WITH YOU. MY WIFE AND I WAS OVER IN PATH VALLEY,PA VISITING HER DAD ONE EVENING. WELL FOR ALL OF YOU THAT AREN'T FAMILIAR WITH THAT AREA, IT'S ALL AMISH COUNTRY. ANYHOW WE WERE DRIVING GOING DOWN TOWARDS A TOWN THERE CALLED DRYRUN AND THERE WAS THIS LITTLE CARWASH THERE. AND AS WE DROVE BY THERE ON THE LEFT SIDE OF IT WAS A PERSON WASHING THERE CAR. WELL IN THE OTHER SIDE OF THERE WAS A HORSE STANDING INFRONT OF ANOTHER PART OF THE CAR WASH, INSIDE WAS THE BUGGY GETTING WASHED. I SLAMMED ON THE BREAKS AND THE WIFE WAS LIKE WHAT ARE YOU DOING AND I WAS LIKE DID YOU SEE THAT LOL. I STARTED LAUGHING MY ASS OFF AND JUST HAD TO SAY TO MYSELF I'VE SEEN IT ALL NOW!!!! I REALLY WISH I WOULD HAVE HAD MY CAMERA WITH ME.

I saw an Amish bar band in New Holland PA. I walked in the front door next to the stage, on the prowl for Englisher girls, and I look at the band, who was playing John Cougar's "Hurt So Good." They all have beards and the whole deal. I giggled a little and went to the bar, where I told the bartender the Amish get-up was genius, they'd surely be remembered for that. He actually got a little miffed, and said, yes, they were indeed Amish. New Order Amish are allowed to use whatever English goodies they want, so long as it makes money for the church. I respect their fervor, but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't one of the funniest things I've ever seen. The accent was priceless. "Co-mon bebby, make et hart so gewd!" I grin everytime I think of it. :D --->JMS

Have you ever seen The Smick Brothers? They are not Amish but dress like them on stage. They will be in Altoona at the Railfest on June 26th
