Can't say enough good things about the people at the CPHS. Dawn and Debbie have been there a long time and are dedicated to the poor animals.

I just got "Aspen" (Now named Mischa) less than two weeks ago. What a great dog! We love her !

A special thanks to everyone who volunteers there too !

Seeing this reminded me of an incident that happened the other day.

I was out in my yard with my dog, my husband and our boy. When along came this little boy from down the street. He must be about 5 years old. He's carrying this beautiful black cat with green eyes. Of course, the cat is moving around, but not really trying hard to get away from him. I quickly go to the edge of our yard to warn him about our dog and his love to chase cats out of the yard when he says the me, "my mom says I have to get rid of my cat. Do you want him?" I politely told him that I didn't want him (husband's allergy) but that he may be able to take it to the SPCA. The boy's eyes got really big and he replies, "no, I'll find someone to take him."

Right there I realized that the little boy was told that animals get killed when they go to shelters. I felt bad for this boy. As he was walking down the street to find others to ask, I thought of how much he must love this cat. Most likely he needs to get rid of the cat because the parents don't want to work with him on responsibility of caring for the cat. Instead of working with him, they threaten and try to scare him. Sad.

Funny thing is, most shelters are no kill unless the animal is violent or sick beyond the point of adoption.
