Queensryche Ousts Geoff Tate

Post by Jim Price »

This is a bit of a shocker. Queensryche parts ways with singer Geoff Tate:

I know Tate has been doing more solo excursions and side projects. He has been the voice of Queensryche, so it will be interesting to see if there is a radical departure from their sound with a new frontman.

This development also makes me wonder if any of this friction dates back to whatever led to Chris DeGarmo departing the group several years ago.

Jesus they should just stop.Sounds pretty intense what they're going through, but in my opinion they haven't recorded jack that was worth $12 since DeGarmo split.Anybody listen to that American Solider record?Wilton is not a songwriter, all the great stuff was Chris.

This is a shame. Tate is a large portion of why I could never stand Queensryche. The irony is that like Scotty B. said, now that DeGarmo is gone, they haven't been worth listening to anyway. I guess it's just not in the cards for me to ever really like that band.

I agree Scott, they went down hill after Degarmo left. They will also not be the same with a new singer.

It will definitely be strange hearing them with a new vocalist, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt until I hear the new cat. I really haven't listened to any of the post-Degarmo stuff, but I think I'm one of the few people in the world who actually liked Hear in the Now Frontier.

So they got rid of Geoff Tate and changed their name? That seems fair I guess.

I agree Scott, that shit aint easy to pull off with conviction, but he is trying. I bet he sounded really good when he was younger, and when he was in his old Queensryche cover band.

I just listened to some of his stuff and why do I have a Journey moment here? It might be because the new lead singer sounds just like the old one, Wow. They still won't be the same without Tate though.
