I played My Sharona when it just came out. Then years later, saw my son play it in a band.

This was one of those songs that always packed the dance floor.....was even a lot of fun to play too!

Yep. We played it last night and the dance floor got packed and everybody sang along. Hard song to play bass and sing lead (split brain thing) but fun to play for sure.m2helmet wrote:This was one of those songs that always packed the dance floor.....was even a lot of fun to play too!

Aw, that sucks. I always loved The Knack. I remember having their first two albums when I was a kid. "My Sharona" is a challenging song to play but fun. Those guys were all outstanding musicians. Doug cemented his legacy with that song. You hear it all the time on classic rock/oldies stations. It's hard to believe that it's an "oldie" now. Oh well. R.I.P. Doug.
I've drank enough beer to float a battleship! Go ahead and Rock & Roll all night if you can but don't party every day!
While The Knack had some other hit songs, My Sharona was an enormously popular song and was the #1 of record of the year for 1979.
